4YL - CONCURSO DE PICNIC

  • Published in Senior

DESEM

Last Monday, the workshop “Tools for the Future” was held at the School for 5YL and 6YL students. It was led by Juanita González, from Desem - Junior Achievement Uruguay and accompanied by volunteers from HSBC Bank. It was an optional workshop in which students worked on different dynamics, such as the “Circle of life” and the creation of a “Personal SWOT”. Students also learned how to write a CV and to prepare for a job interview. Without a doubt, a different and enriching experience for all participants.

VALENTÍN MARTÍNEZ

On Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th we participated with over 200 students in the Valentin Martinez Rugby tournament and María Noel Quintana Hockey Tournament. We participated in the following categories U13 / U15 and U17 of rugby and U14 / U17 of hockey.
Results were outstanding. The hockey U16 and rugby U17 obtained the championship undefeated. The rest of the teams made their ways to the Gold semifinals and the U15 won the Silver Cup.

As a closing highlight to such successful event, Mateo Pilorget and Justina Arregui were both chosen as Best Rugby and Hockey players, respectively.

Congratulations!

2020 GRADUATION

  • Published in Senior

This week, we welcomed back the 2020 Generation for their delayed Graduation, first in December last year, then again in March this year.

It was a Graduation and IB Diploma ceremony combined, and the names of those students who successfully scored over 40 points were read out, as were those prize winners from last year.

The majority of the students and their parents attended, and all students were presented with their Graduation medals. For those studying overseas, the medals were presented to family member. There was a musical interlude with an excellent rendition by Irina Svetogorosky and Paulina Ravecca from 6YL of ‘Roots Before Branches’ by Room for Two

It was a very enjoyable occasion, and great to see the former students and their parents once more.

TUG OF WAR

Special Class for 4YL: Studying abroad

In the context of the Vocational/ Occupational Programme, during the Form period our 4YL students had a special class with the school university counsellor in which they explored the process of applying to study abroad.

Students were introduced to different reasons that usually motivate students to study abroad as well as to the aspects to take into consideration when taking into account this study option.

As there is nothing better than sharing experiences with students who have been through the same process, four former students were invited to collaborate with this special class.

  • Juan Martínez, who is living in Buenos Aires, where he is working as an artist and studying Business Management and Administration at Universidad de Palermo, motivated them to follow their dreams.

  • Sol Slinger who is at NHL Stenden in The Netherlands studying International logistics highlighted the importance of following deadlines set in the application process.

  • Agustina Lagrenade who is studying music in Berklee College of Music highlighted how much she grew up with the experience of living on her own and meeting people from different walks of life.

  • Agustina Lombardi, who studies Comunicación at UM, joined our class from Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, where she is currently doing an internship. She shared her enthusiasm and how enriching this experience is for her not only as a student, but as a young person.

All of them had in common their openness and willingness to help younger students! A real pleasure to have them back, at least, for a while!
