School Facilities and Grounds

Located in the residential area of Carrasco, on a beautiful 21-acre (10 hectares) campus, The British Schools' site encompasses the Senior School (6600m2), the Junior School (4687m2) and the Early Years Centre (2050 m2), as well as a cafeteria, sports house and pavilion, outstanding playing fields (one hockey, two rugby, two football fields), a synthetic hockey pitch, a synthetic multipurpose pitch, outdoor tennis courts, a basketball court, a gymnasium (1654m2), an 400-seat auditorium and an open air swimming pool.

The British School’s community enjoys the privilege of its beautifully landscaped, well maintained, grounds and facilities. It is the responsibility of each one of us to help keep these grounds and facilities clear of litter for everyone to enjoy. Parents and guardians are reminded that they are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times when using The British School’s facilities during after-School and weekend activities .

The School is a strict non-smoking area.

Recycling at School

The School is committed towards minimising its impact on the environment. We have a year-long collection of bottle tops as an inter house initiative. The collected bottle tops are taken to “Tapitas Oportunidades”. This organisation works with stray dogs living in the streets of Montevideo.

We collect clean empty plastic containers to send to “Plato Caliente”, an organisation that feeds the homeless at night reusing these plastic containers.

In 2020, we inaugurated our newest Recycle Station. We located three different bins in several strategic places within the School following the international code for recycling. Yellow for plastic, blue for paper and cardboard and grey for other kinds of litter. These are later carried to the Recycle Station where they are picked up daily to be recycled in Montevideo.
