Once more, students from sixteen schools from Uruguay, Argentina and Chile gathered to debate topical issues of global significance.
The Opening Ceremony began with Mr Simon Roberts' inspiring speech about diplomacy and the conference motto: "United in dialogue, stronger in action," followed by our keynote speaker, Mr Mal Green, His Majesty's Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Uruguay and former member of the British delegation in the Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters. On Saturday evening, Ms Soledad Martínez, an experienced Uruguayan diplomat, delivered an insightful speech to conclude the conference on a high note.
More than 250 students aged between 11 and 18 participated in the conference in various capacities. Junior school students sang in their choir, directed by Ms Stacy Duren, at the Opening Ceremony, and 32 Year 6 students assisted the Chairs in their committees as Admin Staff. This year, Y12 CAS students participated actively in multiple logistic roles supporting the smooth running of the conference, acting as ambassadors, administration officers, media producers and entertainers.
