To emphasise the importance we have been putting on reading, this week was full of book-related activities to celebrate National Book Day on Thursday, 26th May.
The Buddy System was born thanks to a 6YL students' concern that students entering 1YL should have a baccalaureate referent to help them in everything related to a successful introduction to Senior school life.
On the weekend of 13-16th May, 5YL and 6YL students of Art and Expression, Mathematics and Design, Visual Arts and Theatre, went on a cultural trip to the city of Buenos Aires together with teachers Mariana Valdés, Daniel Benzano and Enrique Cederbaum.
The School recently concluded its IB Evaluation Visit. An evaluation visit is a requirement through by which the IBO assesses and ensures that the standards and practices of an IB school are being maintained, to acknowledge accomplishments and to provide guidance for improvements.
We were welcomed by José and Jacinta (father and daughter), very good hosts. José is an agronomist and gave us a very dynamic and interactive talk, where he explained about the different plants, fruits and vegetables.
The "Buddy System" is an initiative and project created by students. It consists of a mentoring programme, where students in Year 4, 5 and 6, on a voluntary basis, have come forward to accompany the academic and social development of all Year 1 students.
In the context of the celebration of the International Girls in ICT Day, on 28th of April, all Computer Science students from 6YL were invited to participate in an open day experience at Montevideo Labs, a company that specialises in data science, big data, machine learning, and software engineering.
Last weekend, LAMUN took place with nearly 300 participants between the virtual and the in-person conference. Schools from Chile, Panamá, El Salvador, Paraguay , Vietnam, among others , were part of this first hybrid LAMUN conference.
